The armed conflicts punctuated the existence of the one who, Spanish resident in France from 1901 to his death in 1973, paradoxically never participated actively in a war. Freed from the obligation of military service and never engaged as a soldier in a conflict, the artist experienced the wars of the twentieth century as a civilian.
