Monsters, Manga and Murakami at the Museum in Grass
The exhibition Monsters, Manga and Murakami offers an interactive journey to discover the fun youkai, supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore. The Japanese art scene feeds on many influences and cultures; if it is based on a millennial tradition, it also faces the mirror of manga culture, animation and video games. The richness of the manga imagination, its codes as its atypical people sometimes terrifying, burlesque, sometimes cute “kawaï”, indeed permeate the works of many contemporary Japanese artists. It is this influence that the exhibition will focus on presenting through a scenography adapted to different audiences, from 3 to 103 years.
